Mother's Day for most is a time to celebrate mom and all she does. For others, it can be a challenging day. This year for Mother's Day, Uplifting Women decided to perform a random act of kindness to a handful of women in the local community. These women consisted of 17 different mothers that have gone through loss, struggles, and heartache over the past year. Strangers we have either seen online, had a friend reach out on their behalf, or we have heard of their struggles. We felt that these women needed something to brighten their day, especially on a day that may be a struggle. As a random act of kindness to make sure they know they are not alone, we decided that we would deliver flowers to each of the women.

A few days before Mother's Day the Uplifting Women officers ventured to a local Amish-owned garden center. There we browsed all the different options and decided upon a flower arrangement in a gorgeous crate. They all came with favorite flowers and plants along with various phrases on them as well. With the flowers in hand and a written note explaining the random act of kindness, we all set out to the different places over the county.

Random acts of kindness are one of our favorite things to do as a nonprofit organization. We feel as though they may be small, but they can really make a difference in someone's day.
