Academic Scholarships

Uplifting Women is happy to announce we are offering two $1,000 academic scholarships to women in the local community. One for traditional students and one for "nontraditional" students. In May we started our new scholarship endeavor starting with the one for women that are considered "nonconventional" students. These are women who have taken years off before pursuing school or later in life have decided to further their education. There are so many local scholarship opportunities for those in high school going to college but we felt there was a lack of scholarships for those who have gone a different path. For 2022, the scholarship applications opened in May. To apply, applicants had to submit a few questions about themselves along with a short essay about an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of themselves or others. Through the application processes, we received around 15 applicants from women all over the county. When the applications were coming to a close, the Uplifting Women officers got together to read through all the applications and choose a recipient. With much thought and consideration, we were able to choose one winner. We were able to schedule a day to meet the winner and present the scholarship to her while meeting her personally.

We are excited to be offering our second scholarship in the upcoming winter months for "traditional" students who are going straight from high school to college. Applications will open in January 2023!

We will also be offering our "nontraditional" scholarship once more in the spring. We are so excited to be able to offer these scholarship opportunities to aid women in the local community with their education.
